Track Ad Copy Changes Across Resized Creatives

Imagefactory · Published 2026-09-10

When copy changes after a banner has been adapted to several placements, track which files were regenerated and which published versions were replaced. Linking the master, placement files and live posts makes the affected versions identifiable.

Record the master version separately from publishing status. This distinguishes a completed creative from a replacement that is already live.

Link each placement file to its master

Consider an example in which “Explore how to use the product” changes to “Explore the contents and instructions.” A feed image and a vertical image have already been created from the master.

Assign related creatives a shared message code. These identifiers are illustrative, not IDs from an actual advertising account.

Record the actual placement even when two placements share an aspect ratio. File dimensions and verification in the intended placement are separate pieces of information.

Write the change request in one statement

A change request combines the revised copy with the affected files:

Change the USE-01 master copy to “Explore the contents and instructions.” Preserve the product image and logo, and export new feed and vertical drafts from this master.

The request defines the copy change without adding a new background or message. Compare the revised copy, product image, logo and line breaks with the request.

Longer copy can change spacing and the number of lines. Review each placement near its actual display size as well as reviewing the master.

Keep production and publication in separate columns

Updating a local creative and replacing the image in an advertising account are separate actions. Track both states in the working table.

VerticalMASTER-v02In reviewPendingLine breaks under review

This table illustrates the recording method. In actual operations, record the platform's post ID or live URL after verifying publication. Retain the previous published version alongside the new draft so the currently used file remains identifiable.

Compare four things after a revision

Check information: the new copy matches the request and the previous wording has been replaced.

Check composition: the product, logo and copy appear in a clear order in each placement. For vertical creative, inspect the placement preview with its top and bottom interface elements.

Check destination: the landing page contains the information promised by the copy.

Check history: record which master produced each file and which file was actually replaced. Include the change date, owner and verification evidence.

Compare a change in CTA position

Imagefactory's existing editing guide illustrates selecting and moving a call to action. These three images show a position change while keeping the CTA wording the same.

2. Drag to move: an arrow connects the previous and new positions.

3. Review the composition: check the moved CTA alongside the product.

Naming the element and its intended position gives the before-and-after review a concrete reference. Once the file is prepared, record its review status and live replacement status separately in the working table.

Continue in the team's existing design tools

Teams maintaining their source designs in a design tool can continue resizing in that environment. Imagefactory offers web editing and resizing, as well as Figma and Photoshop plugins. See the plugin overview.

A marketer can identify the revised information and target placements while a designer reviews the master and layout. The same record also works when one person handles both roles.
